Ok so my whole "posting every day" is off to a rough start. I have an excuse, that a major project came up last minute. I really did draw the next day, and I'm uploading those two pages now. I didn't get to draw yesterday due to finishing said project, then having to work til late. I didn't get home til almost 10:30, by then I was just exhausted and didn't even feel like scanning in the previous day's work, much less creating more. So I drew another page today, and am uploading three at once. I'll try to do better from now on.
The first image is a perspective study. I am not happy with it at all, but I figured I would post it just so this doesn't become a showcase of nothing but finished product. The point is supposed to show my creative process, and in my mind that means showing the rough spots as well.
The second two images are city scapes I pulled out of a "how to draw galactic worlds" book. I'm not the best at creating environments, particularly ones that involve made up structures or landscapes. I tried to personalize them a bit, but mostly they are just step by step drawings. I'm still pleased with the result, I think I learned a lot about how to draw and overview of a scene.

These look very good, by the way. My favorite is the bubble city. It reminds me of my home town. Except my home town had less bubbles and cities in it.

You should take a look at the book on the art of the Blue Sky Animation Studios movie Robots. They explain in great detail how the inspiration in that movie for all their cityscapes was everyday real world objects. Mostly kitchen appliances, bowls and antique hardware. The visual designer would compose table top still lifes of a city scene using salt shakers, flour tins, caullenders. etc. Then he would photograph as well as draw these scenes. This gave him accurate perspective and a familiarity with real materials.
Perspective is a daunting topic and tedius process. I would advice not drawing perspectives from imagination until you do a lot of perspective reconstructions of real scenes, either in person or from photos. In person is better since your mind has to deconstruct the real world 3D space into a 2D abstraction on the page. Working from photos or other illustrations doesn't build this visualization 'muscle' in your brain.
I use a mac and i currently own an iphone, but i havent figured out how to drag photos ive been taking with it's camera off the iphone itself. easy 10 points here!

The response to national disaster is noble but it's a damn shame that so many people take advantage of the sad situations.
I mean everytime there is an earthquake, a flood, an oil spill - there's always a group of heartless people who rip off tax payers.
This is in response to reading that 4 of Oprah Winfreys "angels" got busted ripping off the system. Shame on them!
